This site is a tribute to Rossco, who was born in Aberdeen on July 21, 1981. It is with great sadness that we have created this page to celebrate and honour the life of Ross Scaife – a wonderful, husband, father, son, brother, friend and colleague. Ross sadly took his own life in March 2022.  
 
Like so many people Ross struggled with his mental health. He had ups and downs and, over the years, had experienced some stronger bouts of depression which he sought professional support and spoke to family and friends for but for the rest of the time he was just Rossco - a happy, fun, kind, talented and successful man. We truly believe he was all these things but also acknowledge that this sat alongside his mental ill health. For us one of the saddest and scariest things about mental health is the way it can be masked – do we, or even they, really know what’s going on inside their head?  
 
Since his passing we have spent a lot of time looking at men’s mental health charities and support networks – there are so many – so much wonderful work going on to try and support men suffering from mental health and to help tackle stigma. BUT suicide remains the number one killer in the UK of men under 45. We need to change this.  
 
We want to try strengthen the availability of support for those suffering from ill mental health who simply cannot recognise the help they need for themselves. Charities who can step in for the NHS where they’re under resourced and PROACTIVELY take on cases such as Ross and monitor his health. Also, somewhere for family members and friends to go and seek help.
 
For that reason we, as a family, in the short period of time since Ross passed away have found it too difficult to select just one charity to support in his memory. We have created this fundraising page so that in the fullness of time we can consider the best way to honour Ross’ memory through supporting a number of mental health and child bereavement charities. If you wish to and are able, we would be touched if you wanted to donate. We will of course update you on the charities that we choose to support.
